iPhone 4 is here guys!

Ok, first things first. The all new iPhone 4 has been launched at WWDC'10 by Steve himself and here's all you needed to quench that speculative appetite of your mind.

Its special/flagship features include:

• Extremely high screen resolution
• Video Chat Capability with FaceTime
• Amazingly cool new form factor

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the all new "squared" design for iPhone 4, after 3 long years of battle with the iconic design, continued till iPhone 3G and 3GS sequels:

I guess this design change was one expected by all of us and we would really enjoy the sexy new body in our palm(s).

At just 4.5×2.31×0.37 inches, it weighs 137 grams which is slightly higher than its 3GS predecessor.

The steel rim that you can notice here in the first pic above is actually the phone's antenna, which would solve your concerns about signal problems as the whole phone is now receiving signals for you.

All old iPhones had 480X320 pixels but iPhone 4 carries 960X640 pixels in its 3.5'' display packing about 326 pixels per inch, that's even more than EVO 4G's 800X480 pixels.

The PPI (Pixels Per Inch) is so high that as per Steve, "it even surpasses the human eye's threshold to differentiate between pixels". The contrast ratio is at crazy 800:1

So u needed that extra set of MP's (Megapixels) on your phone right?

This lovely device comes with 5MP camera with flash and a frontal camera, perfect for video chat. I am speculating that there should be a function available where you can keep switching between front and rear cameras if you wanna share with your mates if you spot a sexy sedan or an elegant lady in that party you visited. I am really keen on its video streaming for now.

Ok so you wanted a new operating system?

So here is the all new iOS 4. Well, we'll decide how good it is right?

The Processor?

iPhone 4 runs on an A4 processor, nearly same as the one in iPad (as per Mr. Jobs)

 

You can expect up to 40% battery life improvement due to this high efficiency of A4. Add that to 16% larger battery size. What do u get? 7h 3G talk, 6h 3G browsing, 10h Wi-Fi, 10h video and 300h standby time.

You can also play lot more games on this one as it has 3-axis gyroscope, which definitely is at least 1 more axis and therefore new ball game altogether, over the accelerometer on iPhones.

Available by 24th June in UK, US, Germany, Japan and France, without contract cost will be $599 for 16 GB and $699 for 32 GB.

3G support will be discontinued and 3GS will see major slash in prices over next 1 month.

What? Nintendo wants to launch an HD phone too now?   

Apple's WWDC 2010 Keynote

After a series of dubbed conspiracies, leaks (or I should say "Lost prototypes"), and police raids, it all leads up to Steve Jobs’ keynote at WWDC 2010 today @ Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.

Will the prototype 4G iPhone be as good as they are tell you through their PR? 

Do Mr. Jobs have any hidden marketing treasures in their pockets to serve Apple's ever increasing fan base? 

Evolution starts at 10 A.M Pacific (12 P.M Central/1 P.M Eastern) time today.

Pleasant weather expected ahead this week

As suggested by MET, the unsettled theme to UK's weather continues today with many areas likely to see more showers developing, or some longer spells of rain moving in as well. Low pressure currently moving away to the east is being replaced by a new low coming in from the Atlantic. 


Many areas do start off dry this morning with just a few showers left over in the northeast whilst the next band of rain is currently moving into south-western parts of both Ireland and England. There are some sunny spells around too, but on the whole it is a rather cloudy picture for many. As we go through the day the rain in the southwest will slowly edge further northeast, reaching Northern Ireland, Wales and central, southern England by later this afternoon. Meanwhile, a scattering of showers will break out elsewhere, and these could turn heavy with thunder across northern parts. Temperatures everywhere will be close to normal, with a somewhat fresher feel for many.  

Lets hope for the best!

Unilever faces probe over Sara Lee

The European Commission's competition watchdog has launched a detailed investigation into Unilever's £1.1bn takeover of Sara Lee's personal care brands and laundry business in Europe.

Officials in Brussels said they needed to examine the consumer goods giant's acquisition following competition concerns about "several product markets, including deodorants, skin cleansing and fabric products".

The announcement of the inquiry means that the deadline for regulatory approval of the acquisition of Sara Lee's brands, which include Radox and Sanex, will be extended until 5 October. The previous deadline was 31 May.

Joaquin Almunia, the EU competition commissioner, said: "This merger creates significant overlaps in a number of products used by consumers on an everyday basis. We need to make sure that if there are competition concerns, they are duly addressed."

Under the acquisition unveiled last year, Unilever will acquire more than 90 brands across different product categories in 19 European countries. The Sara Lee brands, which Unilever plans to acquire, delivered sales in excess of €750m (£627m) for the year ending June 2009. The other Sara Lee brands it is seeking to acquire include Duschdas, the Monsavon skin cleansing products and Neutral laundry items.

Yesterday, the UK-based company said: "Unilever welcomes the opportunity to engage more fully with the Commission's competition authorities. Unilever believes the process will balance the legitimate interest of the Commission with the company's desire to maximise the opportunities from an acquisition that will deliver more value to consumers, customers and investors."

A spokesman added: "The deal is on track to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2010."

Not another Oil spill live feed!

With the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico still unfolding, concerns over threats to wildlife have brought animals into the news quite a bit lately. 


From the oil spill, to preservation efforts, to zoo developments, pampered pets, harsh environments, invasive fish, a surfing alpaca and more. I have tried to collect here some recent photographs of animals and human interactions with them.


This blog post is to provoke advice and concern regarding what we are willing to do for these mates who share the environment with us as our friends, companions or helpers and therefore should be taken care of.
